Can I Power Wash My Home in the Winter?

Does your home need a good power washing? Unfortunately, it's a bit late in the season for it now. Power washing season generally ends around the middle of December. That's because the trucks and equipment need to be winterized to keep them from freezing over the winter. They'll be back up and running around March.

When winter power washing isn't available, here are some other options to keep your home looking nicer this winter.

Options for Keeping Your Home Looking Clean in the Winter

These ideas won't help your home look as sparkling clean as it does after being power or soft washed. However, they will help it look fresher until power washing season rolls around again.

  • Make sure your yard is cleaned up and the flower beds are tidied. Put away hoses, outdoor toys, etc. in order to protect them and make the front of your home look nicer. Getting them out of the way will also remove tripping hazards when the snow starts blanketing everything.
  • Pick a fairly warm day and wash your windows and screens. You might be surprised at what a difference it makes to the curb appeal of your home! It won't do as great a job as soft washing, but it will definitely help. It will also let more of that scarce winter sunlight into your home to help lift your mood and keep your houseplants happier.
  • While you've got the wash bucket out, give your front door a good scrubbing. Once it's nice and clean, hang a winter wreath or other outdoor decor on (or near) it. Your visitors probably won't even notice that your home needs a power wash when their attention is focused on your attractive and inviting front door!
